Hosta O 2013

I decided to take the bus this morning. The driver left the keys in the ignition when he went to get coffee.

Oh my! Am I going to enable you with my first O.

On Stage and oh she so is. This plant will call to you from across the yard and will draw your eye right there. You will also pause and stare often. Just go and add On Stage to your buy now list. I am glad I did.

My best looking $3.00 hosta, Old Glory:

On Fire, a nice little streaker, I think I paid $40 for this little guy:

Orange Marmalade has the most incredible color for about 3 weeks in early spring. This photo almost captured it. OM looks terrible up in the summer. I bought mine after Phil mentioned that it's worth that for how it looks in the spring. I totally agree with him.

Orange Marmalade, after the orange phase!

On Stage, not exactly a show stopper here.

Olive Bailey Langdon grows well here despite enduring a few transplants. I have three with each receiving a different level of sun exposure. None get the rich coloration as those pictured above.

Obsession was a bonus from Avalon Acres in 2012...looks almost like a streaker with two dark tones.

Old Faithful is a fragrant, and it came from Van Wade's OS. It is an Olga hosta, of course. That is a bee up to his knees in the blossom.

Old Glory in a tub with two other hosta also from Hallson. While they have similar coloration, I put them together so I could learn to recognize their differences.

Olga's Shiny Leaf (NOT named after Olga P, but another Olga)
It is shown with Ballerina which is also small, to give a comparison. Both came from Savory...shown June 2013

On Stage is awesome to look at....

One Man's Treasure shown blooming Sept 2013, a purple scape and pale lavender blossoms. Medium shiny darker green. This one came from Hallson in 2012.

Orange Marmalade shown in April 2013 with its tetraploid sport Forbidden Fruit for color comparison.

Otome No Ka from Van Wade, taken in August 2013...here just 2 months at that time. From the Fragrant Flowered list.

Oze did not survive the spring. It came up solid green anyway, and did not show me much so I'm not replacing it.

Thank you Stoc. My Ooh La La was planted in 2009 with 3 eyes. It had 22 eyes in spring of 2013. It is one of my favorites. It is growing on the east side of the garage. All of the hosta in that bed tend to do really well. Morning sun. Although, some can suffer later in the summer even if kept watered.

My 'Olive Bailey Langdon' is only first year and my only O. I look forward to seeing her grow up to be a beauty like the ones shown here, hopefully.
I will have at least two more Os ... have a division of Orange Marmalade to pick up in the spring from my daughter and I will have On Stage as a new arrival in my garden for 2014...thanks to Paula from our Florida Division for enabling :-)
