Hosta F 2014

A dog thinks: Hey, these people I live with feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm, dry house, pet me and take good care of me THEY MUST BE GODS!

A cat thinks: Hey, these people I live with feed me, love me, provide me with a nice warm, dry house, pet me and take good care of me I MUST BE A GOD!

Fat Cat, new this year, baskin' in the sun.

Thanks Sherry - I have not taken nearly enough single pics and sometimes you just can't crop them. It seems no matter how much space we have we always need more!
More space is what we all need when we see such gorgeous hostas.
Frank Lloyd Wright, Foxfire Palm Sunday, Flemish Gold and so many others.
Don_in_Colorado that Forest Shadows looks like a
really nice small hosta. Easy to tuck in.

Thanks mbug- I had to laugh when I cropped the pic and noticed the chipmunk.
Your Forbidden Fruit was one that caught my eye. My brain is scrambled from looking at all these beauties.
You and so many others post such great hostas and photos!
Funky Monkey is another interesting hosta and Flemish Sky and all the others.

Paula, thanks for the August pic of Fat Cat, still looking great. That's a stunning display of Fire Islands (I mean Fire & Ice...for God's sake) .

Don, love the blue on your Fragrant Blue.

Beverly, I like that Fragrant Blue Ribbons... I'm a sucker for that colour combo.

irawon, My Fireworks is planted on the East side of my house in sandy loam (Of which I have very little!) In the Spring it gets a top dressing of Epson Salts (small handful, lightly worked into the soil). All my white centered hostas get the same treatment in the Spring.

Steve, two of the hostas that really caught my eye were Frank Lloyd Wright and Fleet Week - I bought them both last year and am looking forward to their return in the spring.
Almosthooked, I agree that your Fountain looks ready to flourish next season! Great size for a mail order purchase. Did it come from Glenn, via Hosta Choice?

BChosta, Yes my new plants came from Glenn from Hosta Choice. You must know his packaging lol He had so many losses last winter and part of my order was delayed until he knew they were large and healthy enough to ship. Wishing he would move back to BC again so we can get them earlier but they should be lovely come spring. I kind of got carried away( as usual) because his prices were so good and McTavish said they take such pride in their work. I have only one more area the size of my kitchen that is still empty so will have to show restraint in the spring. Some of mine may have to be thinned out and moved .

Mbug, I missed the comment about the placement of my
    F. Aureomarginatas. In my humble opinion, all hostas benefit from being close to rocks. I liked the way peren.all situated hers too. Sorta glad now I didn't replace them with something else. Your shot of Fire & Ice in bloom is great too. By the time mine has flowers, I end up taking no picture b/c the leaves look too ratty.

I'm really enjoying all the repetitions of the same hostas.

Josephine, love the look and size of your Frances Williams. Wish mine would grow.

Gary, thanks for the advice for Fireworks. I'm going to add epsom salts to some of my mediovariagated white hostas next spring. I appreciate your help.

It is great to see Frosted Mouse ears Karen, Sherry and irawon. I was surprised to see them arrive to the party so late. Such a wonderful mini. I really like mine but do find it very slow.
    Edited to add
almosthooked I know your post of the FME was not there when I posted ( time difference )? Great seeing a shot of its lovely blooms.

Irawon, your Frosted Dimples looks fantastically fuller and healthier than mine.

Almosthooked, your Fragrant King BABY is 4 times the size of my FK, which was planted 4 years ago.

Love looking at everyone else's Hostas. Gives me something to strive for. I think the heat here definitely has a deleterious effect on the growth of my Hostas, but there's likely something else at play here, too. Perhaps I should start feeding them. Even once a year might make a difference.

Thank your Irawon! It's got a few years on it to say the least! Divided it last year, moved it forward a foot...lost the other half that I potted! ð©ð©ð©
But I have three more divisions growing around the garden which are not susceptible to the spring desiccation. Experimenting with siting. Pic below of same FW a month before (May 29/14).

Hang in there...yours will surprise you when you least expect it! ðÂÂÂ

Karen, Absolutely love your Frosted Mouse Ears and its setting!!!! Beautiful companions!

HostaTakeover, your Frosted Dimples will get there..it takes time. Mine's 7 years old.

Thanks Jo, for the encouragement. Hostas in one of my beds, the one that my FWs are in, suffer from root competition. I've decided the whole bed's getting fertilized next spring, not just the hostas.

Almosthooked your Frosted Mouse Ears in bloom is really cute. Tepelus, yours is too. What is the ground cover it's planted in?...really nice effect.

Sorry for showing such a baby, but this one is not shown very often. I love that dark-green (almost black) colour it got in Autumn.
