It could work. You wouldn't want to order a bunch without commitments from buyers, though. Our genealogy society did a cookbook. We sold them at a reduced price to those who ordered and paid before it went to print. We took the money we had collected and ordered how many ever we could with the money from our pre-paid orders. We sold most all we bought and made a good profit over the next few months. We also didn't have to use our society's precious funds to do so.

i think ... they kinda went by the wayside.... when the interweb solved most calender using ....

who needs one per month.. when you can look at hundreds every day .. of course.. you barely get anything else done... unless you have the fortitude to turn off the computer for an hour or two ... lol

I don't agree, there is still a market for monthly calendars, as shown by the still present sales of them every year. I raise Labradoodles and there are calenders that several of the breeders get together and put out every year and those are quite successful. It is certainly doable in the hosta world as well. All you need is a source of pics and the permission to put them in the calendar and whalah! you have a very nice calendar in production.

You could market that several ways as well, with the current memberships of the Hosta society present and, I'm sure, willing to purchase them. You could defin use the contest for who wins each month's pic spot or even do a separate one, generating traffic to the site, etc. (Sorry, my web design background seems to be rearing it's head here as well). Many ways to do this, the imagination is the only limit with something like this.
