Spring comes to Wales!

The first dry day for ages so I went outside to start a clear up.
Just on the lane I found our first Primrose in flower.

Sorry about the picture quality but light levels are low and the flash went off.

Anyway inspired to think Spring was on the way I cleaned this lot up.

Then into the greenhouse to do these.

If we get another dry day soon, I've still got these to do.

No sign of any movement yet thank goodness. It's been a really mild winter for us this year, I even have tulips showing through in the garden. We could still get freezing temperatures and snow but at the moment some of you seem to be holding on to it all.
On a positive note it has made it a lot easier to keep my Fuchsias protected and insulated so far.

No sooner had I posted the above when I glanced out of the window and its snowing !

Phil, I've got 5 acres of it !
Moved here nearly 3 years ago.
Whole house to decorate, fields to maintain, chickens and goats to establish.
Brought 130ish Hostas with me, keep seeing new ones on here I must have. It's quite common over here to keep them in pots due to our much milder winters.

I do have plans however and this piece of hillside will one day be my Hosta garden.

I haven't cleaned mine up yet. They look like photo #4, except dead leaves are still hanging there and a few flower stalks still stick up.

I had a mild winter last year. It was not good for the hosta. They came up too early and were damaged by the normal February cold. This year, it looks like it will be March before the hosta start to emerge.

I'm really curious how it will go this year. Some were so damaged last year, that I hardly took photos. Will they have recovered to pre-2013 size and beauty? Will those liners I mistakenly bought make it? Will those nice big multi-eyed plants I bought last year hold up? Did Cleo get June fever? Will those plants I bought in the late fall fare ok? Wonder what was in that empty pot I found?

We'll see.

Here, there are no signs of spring yet. The flowering quince is the first to herald spring, and they aren't showing flowers yet, but the buds are fat.

Here in Oregon we are getting SNOW! Unusual!Not heavy, the lawn is still showing and it isn't freezing yet, but we will see. It is dangerous for me to have to much time to shop and there are just too many gorgeous pictures on this site.

What a beautiful spot of ground for a hosta garden! Looks like a couple of fruit trees, and a nice Peter Rabbit hedgerow around it. Gives protection, privacy, and yet a glorious special garden spot. I named my garden White Dove with a Moon Walk, and I enter via the Stargate (which will have H. Stargate to greet visitors).

I look forward to seeing your magic garden take shape.

Wow Dave, that's a great area there! I wonder how many hosta you can fit there, looks like you have a LOT. (Always a good thing).
