Hosta Leaf Bingo ~ 2014

paul_in_mn
10 years ago

Started this in 2009 as a way to span the winter months as we dream of hostas. While playing with my photo album program - I noticed that the collage was very similar to a bingo card - so with no pips or unfurling in sight.....Hosta Leaf Bingo was born.

Just like regular Bingo, name five in a row Horizontally, Vertically, or Diagonally (rows labeled 1 thru 5 and Columns A thru E for reference...so top left is A1). So a guess might be - "Diagonally from A1 Col Mustard, Mrs Peacock, Free Space,
Prof Plum, Mrs White".....and I would respond with how many are correct....in this case 0 correct. If you haven't played before it will be clear after a few guesses and replies.

Hostaholic Challenge Level - Fill the Card

What's your reward.....perhaps like Carl Spackler in 'Caddyshack' you will receive total consciousness from the Dalai Lama.............from me you will just get congratulations on a job well done.

After the guessing goes on for a bit, I may throw out some clues if necessary......

Good Luck

Paul

    'missmyhostagardia' LOL

    Could that be the reason I sometimes get fairly depressed in cold winters?

    Paul, this is a great idea for a game. I see I'm pretty terrible at it, but I won't give up yet.

    Fragrant Queen - not correct
    --------
    Journey's End - Correct
    ----------
    Ice Age Trail - not correct

    So C1 and A2 are left - I figured C1 would be most difficult and followed by A2 and Little Treasure.

    Paul

  • beverlymnz4

    B2 is Cathedral Window, isn't it? B1 then would be the Journey's End Don refers to. Funny, I have that hosta and I didn't recognize it in its spring color. Spring is just too far away.

    Could C2 be Dark Shadows? What ever it is, I like it.

    Thanks BeverlyMN, yes

    B2 is Cathedral Window and
    B1 is Journey's End

    Sorry about than. Don't mean to confuse.

    and
    A3 has a holiday related name

    How about C1 as Blue River and A2 as Christmas Pageant.......yes and yes......finis
    ======================

    Following are the clues from earlier-

    Clue - As you travel to one's destination appreciate the little thing and celebrate............(hint, may be some clues in these words worth digging into;-)

    key words:
    travel -> Journey, on a River
    destination -> End
    travel destination -> Maui
    little -> little
    celebrate -> Christmas, Carnival, Abba Dabba Do (how Fred (with Y) celebrates )
    worth digging -> treasure

    ---------------
    Clue - Dark green rather than blue......a 2000 sport of an 1982....
    and.....The one you're missing is a sport of a blue hosta and is supposed to have good vigor.
    -> vague clue to Blue River, a sport of True Blue
    -------------
    Clue - Picking up a little to play out the end this game.

    key words:
    picking up -> Treasure
    little -> Little
    play -> Pageant
    end -> End
    ==================

    And the final complete board

    Thanks for playing!
