To see this little bitty hosta in the middle of winter sure gladdens my heart. Congratulations, Mom! It looks strong! It'll be fun tracking it's growth. So excited for you. :-)

HOLY HOSTA BATMAN!! I have 5 more tiny sprouts today, barely noticeable to the naked eye but they're there, honestly!

And as far as lineage goes, I have no idea. And frankly I don't really care either, as long as these little fellas keep growing. This is my first attempt at sprouting my own hostas from my own seeds out of my own backyard so I'm thrilled that it actually works. Gimme a few more years at this and then we'll talk lineage and streakers etc.

So instead of looking out the window today at the scene below I'm going to pull up a chair next to the tray and feast my eyes on GREEN.

We can't help but get excited too riding this sprouting-seedling-hosta train with you! Get your lunch delivered to your new spot, lol

All that white out there must be covering up lots of potential places to dig and grow these new babies!

Could it be possible that my garden could potentially be one of those places Jan is referring to, Hostanista? If you get more sprouting would you be willing to part with one? If you've read any of my posts on my wee wee little miracles (to me anyways) you'd know I would devote my time to nurturing it. You could rest assured one of your little 'uns would be doted on.

There, how's that for pleading? Yes, of course we could negotiate!

Hostanista, congratulations! It brings a big smile to my face to think about you sitting in front of your tiny sprouts encouraging them to grow. The breath you exhale should be good for them. I would read something inspirational to them, something like THE LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD. They'll be saying "I think I can....I thought I could, I thought I could!" before long.

With the success of my first sprout from Zounds, I'm encouraged to try more, so I just dumped a few dozen Liberty seeds into a tray. We'll see what happens in a couple of weeks. I may have to set up a give-away stand at the end of my driveway this summer!
