Memorial Hosta Garden

Hi everyone, I have not been on this forum for a VERY long time! Of course, in Wisconsin we are still getting snow!

I would like to start a memorial hosta garden this summer and need an idea - a couple years ago, my sister lost her dog Jackson, and I started her a Hosta Andrew Jackson from seed, which is now finally hopefully going to be big enough to move from close to the house where I have been keeping it.

Unfortunately, we lost my dad suddenly last fall, and I would like to add a hosta in his honor to my new garden. I am looking for ideas...and I think that one may have just popped into my head! When we were growing up we boated on the Mississippi River - maybe a hosta with Captain in the name would be fitting, but I would like some other ideas! His name was Loren, but I don't know that there are any hostas with that name.

Any thoughts?

Don, that is an awesome list! Thank you so much...I am sure I can find some really great ones for my garden...and I may let each of my kids pick one too.

Sorry to hear about your dad. There is a hosta named 'Mississippi Delta'. It's a big one.

most likely.. andrew jackson.. being a named cultivar.. will not come true from seed ...

but i am sure you will enjoy your very unique hosta ..
