favourite websites?

I just discovered the website renegadegardener.com
linked by jonnyb023 in the thread re. hosta circles around trees.Sadly I had never heard of the Renegade Gardener, but already I have spent an hour or so reading and learning. Great site.

My question - what else haven't you people told me about??? Seriously though - do you have favourite sites to share?
Jan

OMG Jan, me too. I've been reading for an hour on that site, what fun. Love the Renegade's sense of humor. Good advice too. I just signed up for his updates.

This isn't a website but a YouTube video of a wonderful garden in the UK: The Lost Gardens of Heligan. It's an hour long but it's just magical! When you have the time, pour yourself a glass of wine, sit back and enjoy this!

Hi Jan,
An absolute favourite is tezalizard.blogspot.ca/

This is certainly a good website, in my opinion; and why wouldn't it be? From what I've read, I discovered the Hosta section was created by our very own Forum-mate and HostaFriend, Mr. Don Rawson....You may very well be quite familiar with it already...Don't be modest, Don R., it's awesome......

Great site. I just blew an hour there. Oh well, the ground is still frozen here, might as well look at hosta pics.

Great idea for a thread, Jan. I spent a few hours at the Renegade Gardener's website as well and learned something new about lawn seeding and limbing up tree branches. Thanks for the link Jonny.

Here's a link to a YouTube site. I spent a few hours here looking at garden videos produced by Hostas Direct (HD). The sound isn't great but the videos of hostas are good and made me add a few hostas to my like list. If I lived in the States I probably wouldn't be buying from HD because of the size of the hostas they sell but I enjoyed the videos.

Everybody probably knows about the hosta forum at Hallson's and the hosta data base they've started there. I post there from time to time. I haven't renewed my membership at Dave's Garden. I think there's also a Yahoo group but I've never accessed it.

A hosta forum I like is at All Things Plants. The folks there are nice. Membership is free. Some nice hosta pics have been posted there now.

Don - thanks for 'the other hosta site'. Just read Mark Zilis' list of best hostas - of his 80 I only have 14. What potential! (Very different list than the AHS top 100, or the HOTY list.)

Boy am I learning a lot from the responses to this post.

jp142 - Just back from Teza..... great blog, and I followed a link there to Toronto Gardens....... it's snowing out....what a great way to spend the afternoon.

Hostanista - just off to pour my wine, then to YouTube.

Many many thanks for the great info.

RE: favourite websites?

You're welcome, Jan. It's a great website in it's own right...Can't have too many Hosta websites. I only have 19 of Zilis' 80 All-Stars, so don't feel TOO bad, we just need to get more Hostas, I guess!
And a thank you to everyone for all your great offerings....The Renegade Gardener has a lot of great material, and he's hilarious to boot.

Thank you everyone for sharing. My 'favorites' list just got longer :-) Here are a few that I enjoy:

http://awaytogarden.com/
...this site has beautiful photography and a wonderfully serene 'feel' to it

http://whyy.org/cms/youbetyourgarden/
...seriously helpful info provided in a decidedly un-serious way

http://www.gardenality.com/
...huge repository of "ask the experts" advice

http://gardenrant.com/
...somewhat edgy but an interesting read if you're in the mood for something with a bite

...my local hosta society... check out the article archives and the newsletters (in addition to the usual DVHS member biz, there are terrific articles to make you smart)
