Bragu, I think you are on the brink......

Just a little bit of a look at my Back40 where I had a huge clump of banana trees that bore several stalks of fruit last year. Then the winter happened, and they not only died, they fell over and crushed a couple of hosta pots. (Hosta survived, but grew sideways before I rescued them)

I took this picture recently, maybe today, too many pictures to recall.

And my sago palms were damaged by this ice and snow earlier this year.

I have a Trachycarpus Fortunei which is a fan palm, I have had it in a pot for years now. I leave it outside during winter and the lowest temp. we have had since I've had it was -17 C. and no problems, it gets very rough looking from the winter winds but when tidied up about may looks great.
