American Halo is a superb hosta which ought to be in every hosta-lover's garden. If you don't have it, get it...

Does AH get dessication? I have 3 new AH this year (bought as bare roots) and they are nicely leafed out now but showing dessication on more than 1 leaf. They have not been outside yet.

hosta freak and don r: your American Halos are really beautiful. It has just the look I love---large leaves and beautiful mounded shape.

Don,neither of mine ever looked like that. Mine just get a few eyes,but always have huge leaves. It must where they are grown in a woodland environment. The creamy white parts may have a problem,but ,for now,they are something to behold! My other one has some very wide margins also. They don't always look that way,but this year something is different. Phil

I have a brand new American Halo, and it has big leaves now. I think after today's warm rain, I could see new growth on everything. The yellows and golds were especially glowing after the rain. This is going to be a beauty. The way they change from year to year, it is awesome.

That mature one is wonderful. Mine is on year 3, and I'm hoping it leaps. So far AH is very sensibly staying underground. Last night was supposed to be the last below freezing night - things should start popping out soon!

No, American Halo is not affected by spring dessication burn or drawstring. It's a fine hosta.

My H. American Halo, first year coming up in my yard and it has good size already. I find it to be a very fast grower in my yard. Because I made the rookie mistake of not considering it's size at maturity I'll have to move it to allow it to grow freely. Gary

Phil, is yours really green in the center because of the sun, or is it just the photograph? I can't wait to see what that yellow leaf looks like unfurled.

Mine is slow like molasses, but all the beautiful photos you guys post give me hope!
