Yes it could be something else. It's not classic symptoms. That last leaf looks like it has insect damage with stippling from some kind of piercing sucking insect. The only way to be sure is to test these. You can get test strips from Agdia.com. It's not hard. Just follow the directions. Below shows you how.

I have several plants right now which are excessively crinkly. I write it off to the cold weather we had. With some of them it takes a very long time to appear, though the same cultivar in a different spot is fully up. I would throw out no plant, simply let them unfurl completely, and then remove the leave I do not like, and keep observing. Next year they could show completely normal. Bernd

While there has been a lot of cold damage on hostas this year, that is definitely HVX. It is the last picture that seals the deal for me and I wouldn't even waste a test on those. It probably came in on Francee and then the next one caught it. Francee takes years to show symptoms clearly like this and may have had some small spots for a few seasons before you noticed it so much.

The cuts on the one leaf are from the eye being stepped on before it emerged.

oi vey.... thanks for all the responses.

These plants have been in the ground for several years and the only way I noticed was that one of my dogs rolled around on the PP and crushed it. Then I was going to move the Francee and when it was dug up, I saw these leaves.

This is the first sign in my gardens of HVX and I'm now worried about all those other hosta that I've moved around in the past years since I planted those. Yep, I was not diligent in cleaning the shovels.

I will be soaking them today!

Unless you have been digging or pruning without sanitizing in between it would seem impossible to transmit it to the two hosta shown.
