What's happened to these hosta?

have a Sum & Substance and a Frances that are very small in overall size and leaf size. The leaf cluster is about 8" wide, with much smaller leaves close to the ground. They are about 4 years old and this is the first year I've noticed this. I have another other Sum & Substance and various other hostas that are growing normally, much larger in size.

Any ideas?

According to my research, it could be buried too deeply, so dig it up and put it a little higher. The research said some of the reason hostas don't develop as fast or remain small could be the fact it's buried too deep.

That and the fact that the sideways way your garden grows! Lol! Don't people here ever look at their pics before they post them? Just an observation. Phil

Digging it up and planting it a bit higher seems like a simple solution to try.... thanks!
