Wondering if any of you have any advice for me. One of my neighbors has a huge Elegans, she says its about 25 years old. It must be at least 5 feet wide when it comes up.

She had a tree removed in her backyard this winter, and they just destroyed her yard. It's really sad. They were supposed to lift everything over her gardens, and instead drove all this heavy equipment over it.

She lost a lot of plants. The actual Elegans is about 3 ft wide, and maybe a quarter of it is coming back. Very slowly. Should be about a foot high, and the part thats growing is maybe 4-5 inches.

She was wondering if she should dig it up? maybe cut away the section thats not coming back? I told her I had no idea, but if anyone would know it would be one of you.

I'm guessing the dirt is really compressed. It really is a mess. Any suggestions?
