This blue hosta is approximately three years old (leaping this year). It is starting to send up scapes and looks to me like it is going to be a fairly large hosta. Thanks for your help.

do you have any inkling.. like a list of names...

or any history ... a newer variety you paid good money for.. or something from g-ma's garden ...

if you cant give us a hint ... i doubt we can say.. with any certainty ... what it is ...

but they will have fun trying.. so have at it ...

No inkling. I paid good money for it at a landscaping nursery a few years back when I first started getting interested in hosta. I didn't get it from my grandma's garden because I'm the granny whose in her 70's. I have been a passionate gardener for years, but my interest was in numerous other perennials and annuals. I don't have the knowledge acquired by so many here regarding hosta, but I'm learning something new every day.

Ah, you have a nice blue NOID as well, Donna. What Ken says...Extremely hard to figure out, in general. BUT don't give yourself an ulcer over it. If someone hazards a guess that you like... ; )

Big blues like this are pretty gorgeous the older and bigger they get; I just call mine Beautiful Blue NOID.

    Cheers,
    Don B.

    Thanks Don ......

Sounds like a plan. We both like our blue Noid.

since it is blue, it is a bloid, or better yet, a bluid ...

    "That's funny, she doesn't look bluish ..."

It might be Elegans. Most all my blues are new, so I'm not much help.

How many veins does it have?

Zone 8 blooms right now are: Elegans just opened, BA is still closed, others are in various states.

If you don't get a positive ID, bump this one up with a photo of the flowers when it blooms.

BKay - You nailed it. I checked out the photos in the Hosta Library, and it is, indeed, Elegans. Going to be a large blue so probably didn't allot enough room for growth. Thanks again,
