H. 'Rocket's Red Glare'

After Funnthsun's thread on Mr. Solberg's new hosta, I had red petioles on the brain! So much so that I drove to two different nurseries looking for these "pets" but in reality also looking for my Top Gun winner 'On Stage'! as submitted by Paula/ilovetogrow. :-)

I am having the dickens of a time finding one! Hosta Fever didn't have any but is working on my behalf ... none of the nurseries I frequent have any, such as Ego's, Botanix or Garden Gallery. Perhaps I'll get lucky and Vanessa may have one for me in June? :-). It is important I find one ASAP. Yes, I can order one but want to choose my own in person.

Now, I did find the subject of this thread today - as a matter of fact, I bought two! This hosta is a beauty and I know some of you have one or two. I love the shiny green colour, the wavy margins, the red pigment on both sides of the leaf and cannot wait for the red stemmed flower scapes which grow in a horizontal manner. I invite you to post your pics and any comments you may wish to share.

Does anyone have a mature one? All pics welcome, please!

On my way home with my treasures ( of course I also brought home another additional replacement for a "goner") I was singing the American national anthem, which I absolutely love just about as much as I love O, Canada! Mention, or seeing a pic of RRG always makes me burst into the anthem, lol

So here is a pic of the "red glare", if you will....

That is a stunning hosta, but...

Uh oh. Looks like there's one more I need to add in order to round out my Revolutionary War suite. I have Patriot, Revolution, Liberty, Minuteman & Independence. Are there others I'm missing?

And you can be amazed at the Patriotic List from Don Rawson, in the Theme Garden section. Some rather obscure, but others more common. I give the link below. Have fun. :)

I have Rocket's Red Glare, I lined up many of my red legged chorus girls, that's him next to Sugar Plum (with almost plum black legs). Not too good for revealing the pets though. I couldn't bend over long enough to take a low angle photo that day.

Mocc, love that shine!!! I hope mine is as shiny...I almost spruced it up for the pic but then I'd be washing off liquid fertilizer, so no go.
