Hmmm...could the mini be Kinbotan? Or Kifukurin Otome, which reportedly has brighter, wider margins?

I don't really know my minis very well, so I'm just throwing some names out there...

Well, in your first photo it looks like the hosta and fern are crowding each other, so I think I would move one of them.

LOL Christine! It isn't a question of should I move it, it is should I keep it or dig it and toss it. Still trying to decide if it is a "garden worthy" plant.

Alexa, when I first glimpsed at the very first plant with that fern curling around the hosta, I thought it would turn into the VOLE! Sort of curled up and comfy on top of the plant, you know. So glad it was the fern.

I rather like the two together, I'd leave them be, odd couple that they are.

I assumed the fern was hanging on in order to save the hosta from its uncertain fate. I agree with the fern -- it's keeper.

LOL! Yes, I am battling voles this year, but I am not crazy enough to take pics of them.... YET! LOL!

And the question is whether or not the hosta is garden worthy, the fern is staying!
