Oh, Funn! If I ever ran across that one, I'd buy more than one! Is there a name for it yet? That is a beautiful contrast with the red petioles...wonder if in time it will venture more into the leaf blade?

No, no name yet, unless he's named it in the last few weeks. He gave me quite an education on how other hybridizers were going wrong on breeding hostas for red pets and what he is doing. It was a neat conversation and I learned more about red pets than I ever wanted to know! Hasn't been a real interest for me, thus far, but genetics always is an interesting topic for me (I'm a labradoodle breeder), so it was neat seeing the parallels of what he looks for genetically, in a hosta, with what I look for with my pups, genetically. There are surprising similarities and I can hear that same all-knowing tone when he talks about hosta that I have when I talk about labradoodles. That struck me as quite funny after I had a moment to think about it.

Funn, I really enjoyed reading about your thoughts on the subject of genetics as it applies to hostas and your labradoodle breeding. Your private chuckle is a result of having met a "peer" albeit in different genres! I also hear respect in your remarks. Life's special moments appear at the most intriguing of times. I would love to have been there when that conversation was taking place. What's not intriguing about genetics? A fascinating subject!
