That sure looks like a '1' Babka. Now if we could just find this elusive blue scale we could predict what all of our blues are likely to do. There is no mention of this scale in 'The Hostapedia' - perhaps Mark Zilis developed the scale after he compiled the book? I'm really curious now.

Did anyone find the blue scale 1- 6 by Mark Zilis? The only one that I was able to locate is the same one that tsugajunkie posted a link to, above.

i think it was originally by peter ruh ... i THINK i remember it in his catalogs.. long ago.. and far away ... at 90ish.. i doubt he has a web presence ...

it might also be in the old schmid tome ...

these two sources predate zillis by a decade or so .. but that is not to say.. he didnt cover it in his writings ...

Some of the postings, websites, etc. that I found a reference to Mark Zilis were advertising blue plants and another was the Ontario Hosta Society and they mention it in a newsletter dated 1996.

I think I remember reading an article about blue scale in an old American Hosta Journal. Sorry, no idea of the issue and it could have been many, many years old as I bought the entire set last year and read through them all. I'd look for it, but I have loaned out most of them to fellow hostaholics!
