That is a heck of a plant, makes me wonder why I took so long to plant one.
Can you imagine it surrounded by a low waxy blue type Hosta?

Your beautiful picture of your beautiful Liberty is a sweet reminder of our deceased Hosta Forum Canadian friend, Papou. That was his favorite hosta and he had/has so many. Sweet, sweet man who taught us all so much.

Beautiful! How long have you been growing it? Please tell me something like ten years. Did you start out with a big plant? I started with a single eye and mine is still not all that big.

I've only been in this house a year and a half and Liberty was here way before me. As best as we can calculate, from photos of the back yard by previous owners, it appears it was planted in 2005. That would make it 8 years old. But I have no idea whether they planted one single plant or a handful. There are 2 more clumps I found on the property last spring, buried under thick branches of pine and spruce so I dug them up and replanted where we could actually see them - they are both doing wonderfully, though not nearly as big as the mom. Here's another shot of her with the camera zoomed out fully. In the very top right side of the pic you can see a little H. White Feather.

That is a really beautiful hosta, taking centre stage in its spot, and located where you can enjoy it from both outside and in. I bet the previous owners shed a tear at having to leave it behind! Their loss your gain.

In my dreams...That almost makes me want to move to a place where I can grow hostas in the ground. What a spectacular plant!!!

Great picture! Yes, it certainly is a show off plant...nothing screams "look at me!" more than Liberty in the Spring garden.
