I love, love, love looking at the different gardens peeps have created. Gypsy Rose is new for me, also, this year. Good luck!

Steve, I guess the pinwheel junk store was fresh out, but, the summer is young yet. I am just sure Mr. Chinese neighbor will find some piece of kitsch to "decorate" the garden with. Right now, we have the white/blue narrow bottle that resembles a urinal. My visiting friend was nervy enough to pick it up and shake it upside down. I was very afraid that ashes of some departed ancestor would fall out, but didn't happen. Whew!

The digital camera I would like is the digital version of my Canon EOS SLR. Leafwatcher, if you'd like to start a fund for me to get it, I'd be much obliged!

hahahah, I use a cheap 90 dollar one set on auto and continue to amaze myself with the way it makes me look much better than I ever did with film.

Although it is scary how many more pics you take once you get away from the film !

It is SO NICE to be set free from film developing costs.

OK, why the 'anti-squirrel' necklace? I have lots of squirrels and hostas--what do the squirrels do that I am missing?

It does sound strange to hear that someone had pictures developed. doesn't it. For me that is a thing of the past. I have my old Olympus SLR film camera in a bag with anti dessicant thingies to keep it from rusting out, don't know what else to do with it. I went digital and have not looked back. It would be nice to have a DSLR camera, but not with my current attention span getting shorter all the time. Like my best friend says, she needs a blonde camera. I need a white haired ole lady camera. Just give me a picture of what I see, and the opportunity to play around with effects, and I'm content.

What I like the best is the Kindle Fire HDX with a fairly nice camera in it (does things on the cool side though) and the app lets me upload within minutes to my Flickr account...or to social media or Photobucket or Picasa if I used those services. It is quick and convenient for on-the-fly pictures when I run outside to take a quick shot to reply to a post on this forum. I've done it more this week than any time in the past.

Now I am lusting after the Samsung Galaxy S5 with a nice camera (better than Apple's so the reviews indicate). I'm into Android so the camera will be a plus. My BFF (best friend) says she will teach me to text.....I view that with mixed emotions. My new car can answer me when I talk to it, so no need for a Bluetooth earpiece any longer. Technology is grand, isn't it?

Esther, I like the big egg gravels. Your smaller hosta look like bantam chickens sitting on eggs. Lovely view out your window. Nice pictures. Pick up a cheap digital camera to get you by for a year or so. You'll be missing all the baby pictures otherwise.

Ok, once again: Why the stone necklaces around the plants? After wasting about $50 for 4 various anti-squirrel powders and sprays--the squirrels didn't even slow down in their divoting the garden and digging up plants to desiccate on top of the soil--I came up with the idea of making their digging harder. I bought 4 HEAVY bags of round river rocks averaging egg-size, and made a ring of those around each and every plant I have in the garden--from the tiniest French marigold to the biggest hosta or heuchie. I immediately noticed that they no longer dug up plants to die if I necklaced the plants well. Yes, they still dig divots between the stones, but I can toe the soil back into those holes easily.

    And so...the stones.

I wonder if they will help with slugs, since they keep the hosta leaves off the ground.
