I just bought one of these from Hallson. It's nice to see what it might become someday. I look forward to having a large handsome one like yours someday.

Oh yeh! I fell in love with Guardian Angel last summer when I saw a couple of large specimens. Bought two of them late last summer from Green Mountain. The one out front by the driveway is limping along...very late to emerge but that prolly had something to do with DH piling snow on it over the winter. The other one, planted out in the neglected 'do or die' patch has grown gangbusters.

I need to loosen the soil around the one in front and try to remember to toss a plastic crate over the crown this coming winter...to help carry some of the weight of the snow.

I would be a very happy woman if my 2 year old looks anywhere near yours. I wish my Black Walnut poop had the same effect as your Flowering Crabapple.

How are the roots of the tree in competing with hostas?

I had a Guardian Angel buried under a conifer. Last year I dug it up, divided it in thirds, gave one away and planted the other two. Here's one of them.

I am so glad, idiothe, that you posted! I just got Guardian Angel a few weeks ago and have been wondering where I am going to plant this beautiful hosta. Now that you have shown us how your hosta has survived the "in a dark corner," with "lots of weeds, covered in tree poop," I think I will try it in medium shade in my garden. But I will need to buried it in a pot because of root competition. Here is my new GA:

One of my top 10 favorite Hostas. This 15+ year clump was saved from the bulldozer at my work. About to be the casualty of a larger parking lot. I moved into my yard last year made it the corner stone of a new host bed. Took a 15 gal bucket to move the crown.

Mine is only in its third year, but looking good. Only 12 more years to catch up to yours.
