H. 'Fragrant King' is ready to bloom

I have a good many plantaginea offspring, one of which is Fragrant King. It is the second one of the family to bloom. I'm counting Lederhosen as first, both of the Lederhosen I have are in full bloom now, lavender blooms, no fragrance discernable.

But I was surprised to have Fragrant King send up a scape this early in the season. Does any one else have a FKing doing this at the end of June-July? It sure moves the time line ahead from August-Sept for the plantaginea.

I've looked closely for other scapes to appear, yet see none so far. Of course, it seems they can shoot up there in a matter of hours after some deep watering, so I will check again tomorrow. Many of my plantaginea are now gathered in a spot where they get more morning sun and some relief from the mid day and afternoon sun, which is a killer.

Here is the Fragrant King:

and a family portrait of many earlier this month, including
Top left: H. 'Aphrodite' which makes big double white blooms.
Bottom left: H. 'Fried Green Tomatos'
12:00 top: H. 'Fragrant King' with the variegated leaf
in front of him is: H. 'Grape Fizz' with the lanceolate leaf shape
1:00 spot: H. 'None Lovelier' also variegated
3:00 spot: H. 'Double Up' which will also have double flowers

Thanks for looking. Your comments are helpful.

Moccasin, Sugar and Cream's first bloom opened today and plantaginea is sending up a scape. Guacamole is about finished with it's bloom. My second Sugar and Cream is sending up scapes, too.

So, it's time for the fragrant ones for us in the South.

My only fragrant one I noticed today even thinking about sending up flower scapes is 'Moonlight Sonata'.

Interesting. Here in 5b I have Guacamole, Stained Glass and Fragrant Bouquet sending up scapes.

I just checked So Sweet, it's "scaping", too. They're just still under the leaves.
