Want to have a whole family of mice in your garden??? Here's all of them I know of:

ÂBlue Mouse Ears SupremeÂ

ÂCat and MouseÂ

ÂFrosted Mouse EarsÂ

ÂGreen Mouse EarsÂ

ÂHoly Mouse EarsÂ(sport of ÂRoyal Mouse EarsÂ)

ÂMighty MoeÂ(Land of the Giants)

ÂMighty MouseÂ

'Mouse Tracks' (Walters)

ÂOne IotaÂ

ÂOne Iota StreakedÂ

'Pure Heart' (Walters)

ÂRoyal Mouse EarsÂ

ÂSnow MouseÂ

Another similar type is 'Country Mouse' which is actually a sport of 'Bill Dress's Blue'.

All these mice could be planted in view of a 'Cat's Eye'.

(If anyone knows of any I'm missing, let me know.)

Hey Don, Is there a ruffled sport of Blue Mouse Ears? This is a picture of one I picked out of a whole batch this spring. I'm calling it Mrs. Mouse Ears. Hopefully it's not the virus but so far it looks good. MCT

Chris at Hallson's has one like that, I think, and he calls it Ruffled Mouse Ears. They look like sisters to me.

Don, checking Hugo's database, it would appear you're missing the following:

    'Mouse Trap'
    'Desert Mouse'
    'Lucky Mouse'

I have an immature 'Green Mouse Ears' that shows the same kind of 'ruffles' as Myrle's BME above.

Someone has got to stop these mice from breeding!

I just got Green Mouse Ears yesterday, and I am only up to 8.
Some of them are still awfully expensive.

And a lot of them look identical, or close enough if you were to lose a label you wouldn't know which is what.

So when something says "NR", that means it isn't available yet?

Cindy, NR just means Not Registered.Ut has nothing specific to do with availability. The AHS has a registry for hosta names. Don, your list should include the information of the ones that look alike and that many of the BME sports are considered the exact same plant with just a different name. They just came out of different TC labs.

The current list of MOUSE EAR HOSTAS is posted here.

Cindy, "NR" simply means that a particular hosta is Not Registered with the American Hosta Society Hosta Registry. This is the international registration authority for the Genus Hosta. There are literally thousands of named hostas which have never been registered, both new varieties and older ones. Many of them are on the market- some are cheap and others are rather expensive.

Keep asking questions...we all have things we can learn!

Are any of the mice less vigorous than others?

Seems to me the Cats need to step up their breeding program to keep up with the mice explosion.

I know it is yesterday's news, but Pieter I admire that scape on your Green Mouse Ears. Is that as tall as it gets? Little lavender blossoms tucked nicely in like an artichoke.

I note that Don's list above (which has already been updated) includes 'Country Mouse' (Hansen 2007). That's one that is NOT a member of the BME family. But still a cute "mouse".

I recently learned that Itty Bitty is a sport of Green Mouse Ears. I have it. And, I got Snow Mouse this week too. It is a real cutie.
