Twisty Leaves

lavendargrrl

I have a small collection started of twisty leaves. This year I got 4 (Joy Ride, Electrocution, Wheeee! and Deliverance). I had Stiletto that I relocated from another bed. Here are some pics of mine, and I'd love to see your twisty leaves too!

I will start with Deliverance.

Oh...I really like Ripple Effect! That needs to go on my list :) Love the colors and the twists! I also have Wheee! that I will post. I remembered Ray of Hope is pretty twisty as well, and one of my faves. Pineapple Punch is also a beauty, Hostanista! I think I used to have one called Pineapple Upside Down Cake, which I can no longer find in my garden. :(

My Stiletto is not nearly as twisty as yours. Wonder what makes them twistier? Maturity maybe? Mine is only in its 3rd season.

My Stiletto was under an azalea for about 7 years and I just moved it to the current location where it should grow better this year. Maybe maturity is the factor for the level of twistiness :)

My last one to share is Mini Skirt. I had to pull the leaves from another plant back to see it hiding.

    'Kabitan'

'Candy Dish' on the left and off to the right a itty bitty 'Bridegroom'

'Neptune' in its awkward gangly teenager phase.

Kate, seeing your Kabitan reminds me that I had that one at one time. I think it's MIA in my garden now. I think your Neptune looks similar to my Joy Ride. Nice plants!

Paul, that Curly Fries is too cute - must add it to my wish list :)

Best looking curly fry I have ever seen, might have to reconsider that one for sure.

Totally Twisted (an Alttara Scheer hosta)
Down in the heart of this hosta, the petioles are growing every which way, entertwined.

Annabel Lee (another Alttara Scheer hosta)
Even the leaf tip has a twist to it, like Ringtail does

Jaws (my first Alttara Scheer hosta) about to turn dark green.

Lakeside Kaleidoscope getting some twists to it

    Nancy all by herself

Nancy and Marilyn Monroe and Dancing Queen...although DQ is not looking too flamboyant here.

Navajo, one of Van Wade's Native American Tribes series

Sweet Tater Pie, small, and First Mate might as well mention it too.

I'm going to stop now. I know there are others but my brain is tired tonight.

Oreo Cream doesn't have ripply leaf edges, but the leaves do twist.

While not as dramatic as the others, my young Emerald Charger is sorta twisty.

Bragu, yup, it's golden creeping Jenny. Although it's not very golden anymore.

Mocc, I think the term for the Jaws that is going to get darker green is viridescent. You have quite a huge collection! I'm so impressed :) I must do some research about the Van Wade Native Tribes series. That sounds like something I'd like a collection of! Your Dancing Queen is much greener than mine. Is yours in deep shade? Mine is quite golden.

Karen, the Creeping Jenny in the pot with Praying Hands is awesome! Oreo Cream is a new one I've not heard of before. Very cute hosta :) Corkscrew is crazy looking - almost not even like a hosta! I found my Allegan Fog and a large part had reverted to solid green. I split off the small eye that still looked like AF and moved it, so I hope it thrives and looks pretty like yours one day.

Paul, Fireworks is adorable, and so is Hideout (DGregory). That Emerald Charger has lovely colors.

Bragu, I think Stiletto was my very first 'twisty' hosta, and I'm really glad I still have it to go with my other twisty acquisitions. :)

Thanks, everyone, for sharing pics of your twisty hostas. I've really enjoyed seeing all of your beautiful examples!!
