Hosta of the Day - Alex Summers

Always in my top 10, Alex Summers has the blend of blue and green I particularly like, while its fast growth, upright stance, and overall size give it pride of place in my garden. Last year, I promoted it here as my very favorite, and found that a good many other forum members place it high on their lists.

Got the tape measure out for you, since all I know is that my maturing hostas are getting crowded. This fella is 35 inches tall by 50 inches wide, now in his sixth summer. I see that the Hosta Library describes AS as a 3 foot mound, which underestimates the spread.

Love the color combination! I think I know what I'm going to do with mine when I have to divide it!

Mine is 46 wide by 28 inches tall, I planted it in the fall of 2010. My Alex Summers was a bonus hosta from Hallsons!
