Want to add that my work has spread,a guy in the building next door asked to borrow a hoe and a rake and he got rid of these weeds which I have been pushing back under the fence.He planted what looked like a Hosta and some house plants.Well at least it is a start.

The neighbor on the other side,I have given her some soil and impatiens that I had left over,her little corner is looking good.
Next to here is a another small area,the buildings form a big courtyard and all of our yards face in.They have swept up the area,mostly concrete,the first time they have ever done anything.

I am just enjoying my hostas and gardening and am happy that others are joining me in my endeavor.

Now I have to look for a copy of the NYorker here or maybe on line.

Stoc, you can buy it online by the issue if you like. I have an Android tablet, so I go to the Google Play store...but my print subscription allows me to get the digital editions free.

I'm doing a bit more reading this week, instead of garden work. I bumped into a square flower pot a few days ago, and now the spot is infected and I am sitting with an elevated leg....a good chance to catch up on my reading.

Thanks for thinking of us, Mocc. I don't have it quite as bad as the person on the NYer cover, in that I can plant my gardens in actual SOIL. But there are absolutely palatial gardens, really large and elaborate ones, on the rooftops around NYC, especially Manhattan. I would also like to mention the ingenious use of otherwise unused space I saw at the Denver Botanical Gardens. They made an utterly charming and highly educational kiddies' garden on top of their parking garage!
