Lol...I dropped the cup on the grass for scale thinking it would just tumble harmlessly...it hit a rock under one if the hostas and broke!

Your two hosta are really big dudes, Tony. I have a wimpy Patriot even after I put it in the ground. Nothing like yours!

In fact your Patriot looks more like my Sugar Daddy....which is supposed to have drawstring but does not look bad so far this year. I must take a picture of it. The leaves are rounded like your Patriot. MY Patriot had longer leaves, with no rounded look.
But, I guess when it is grown in prime hosta country it makes a difference.

Mocca...I think climate makes a big difference for sure...8a-8b with tons of rain and mild winters...the roots are growing almost all year around here I'd think. I guess it's just a bit disappointing when I compare them to the other more well-lighted hostas...I think this patriot could be a real specimen if I put it in greater light as I have seen them quite large...but then there is the risk if burning it in too much sun too :(

Tony, you are right that too much sun doesn't work for Patriot. Mine had the white margin melt right off in our climate. I have very few with white midleaf and even fewer with white margins. Creamy margins work much better if there is good substance.
