If the streaked sport is on the outside of the plant and is easily reachable, then I would separate it out now. If you would like you can wait until the fall. I would do the surgery around the first of September to give the new plant enough time to set roots before frost. If the sport is in the middle of the plant requiring major surgery, then I would definitely wait until fall.
