I was looking at my hosta and is this hvx? Please tell me its not :( i only have 1 hosta bed so if it is here thats it im done with hosta untill i move :(
In my experience, the white edge is not consistent with this plant. Some years, the white will be more evident than others. When it's potted, the white edge can disappear completely. Mine remained white until we had a bout of southern blight.
What you are looking for in HVX is a bleeding from the veins or sunken tissue. See, there are no little stringly lines from the vein out into the adjacent area? There is no sunken tissue anywhere. The hosta library is doing some renovation in the diseases area, so I can't link to their photos. So, just do a search on hosta virus X on Google or Yahoo and look at the photos. They don't look like yours.
