but for the fact.. that when i planted my 6 foot bare root oaks ... my drain pipes were FOUR FEET ... lol ...

when i did that.. i was planning for 3 feet of snow ...

Oh how I envy you that Tricolor Beech tree!! I've seen a few mature specimens and they are spectacular! I even planted one myself a few years ago only to lose it 2 years later. In retrospect, it might have been too close to a few Black Walnuts. And it had cost me $700!!! Sigh. Good luck with yours. NEVER move!!!

Ken, your 'invasive dwarf' looks like he coulda been a pretty good helper. Close enough to the ground to pick up sticks and twigs.
