Your JFS has gorgeous blossoms! I've seen many flowers but not one like that - the long stamens and pretty petals are beautiful! You sure scored a beautiful tree and your hosta will love it. :-)

I wish, but alas, no, nothing mentioned about scent.

Had to go look this up as it is a new variety for me. What I found says it is hardy to zone 7 and very rare. If you find out anything more about, please add to this post. Definitely a cool tree.

I wish I could have a tree in my front yard, especially as pretty as this one. But as everyone knows, the simultaneously cretinous and vindictive co-op manager had mine chopped down and would not let me put in a pagoda dogwood in its stead.

Lavendar, got it from Atlantic Avenue Orchid & Garden in Raleigh. They only had this one, but if you want me to keep an eye out for another one, I'd be glad to, if you don't frequent the place.
