Hey Faye, welcome to the club. A few years back I used soap and water for stains. I haven't done that again. i washed all the wax off my blue hostas.

Did the calcium stains occur before or after washing?

I guess it is from watering with overhead sprinklers . It looks better now after I wiped it off . Some show it and others not so much. I guess I should be thankful there are no slug and no holes this season .

invest in drip irrigation ...

or hand water with a wand from below ...

crikey ... washing your hosta... i suppose you clean your house also ...????

do you do your dishes with a hose .. and spray down the whole kitchen while doing such???

I would love a drip irrigation Ken but we are on a well and if one of the nozzles came off I could maybe drain the well if not around to fix it, Ken. Also to hand water 400 hosta would take me every waking hour and by George how would I hose down the house or let my dogs wash the dishes. Actually we do have a dishwasher but house is on a water softener. Canadians have such luxuries. Altho I still have to take the laundry to the crik as you call it in the south and beat them on the rocks

Ken, drip irrigation is the answer, yes, but trying to educate/convince the MALE partnership of this household of such has been difficult. It's possible as an adjunct to our present sprinkler system by just adding taps at varius stations. Well I guess I have my work cut for me out to convince my hubby of such re the financial advantage. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
