The color change is between the veins. An infected virus has color change bleeding from the veins.

Looks fine to me, but since you don't know where it came from, practice safe hosta planting and mark them in your garden as an unknown source.

Some of my favorite hostas have come from garage sales. It's not uncommon for hostaholics in this neck of the woods to divide, sell, and take the money to the nursery for new cultivars. Just keep an eye on them, and tell your mom "Thank You".

There was a lady here who was getting a bit absent minded. She'd forget what the hosta was or lose the tag, then just sell it. I got some lovely NOIDs from her. Aggravating not to know what they are, but they still look beautiful in the garden.
