Well that was fun .....NOT!

So my sis wanted to have a garden bed along the back of her house. Dutiful brother that I am, I went down to aid her in her endeavor. Things were going swimmingly for a time until one hole we were digging to place a hosta division. It was a spot about 4 or 5ft from the back wall of the house. I got to depth of about 1-1.5 ft when I hit this:

What mental moron buries bricks in the yard? We actually came across two others (one of which was under one of the front beds). None of the other holes presented such a problem though we were left wondering how many more bricks lie buried in her yard.

It's so nice to have a brother able to do what you just did. Big points for you. She'll always remember how that flower bed came to pass.

Funny you should mention that, Sydney. My sis jokingly said that it could have been worse ... we could have uncovered a body. To which I replied "I would have preferred it had been a body. Not only would it have made more a much more interesting tale, but we could then have gotten the police/FBI to dig it all up."

Paul, that whole conversation would be good for the humor thread, IMHO..

Ken is right, somebody got rid of their unwanted materials. Much like when I moved here, they'd had pitbulls fenced in the back, and I found old car batteries and window a/c units filling in the holes the dogs dug....plus the 1/4" stainless steel CHAIN they were restrained with. Mobile may be short on some things, but its trash pickup service is the best....26 times a year up to 9 cu yards each time. We tested the limits that first year, and I played the "little old lady" card with the trash crew a few times....but it all went away eventually.

The "little old lady" card? Mocc, that never occurred to me. Maybe I'll try it. My hair is gray.

You qualify to play the LOL card then, BKay. We are on good terms with our trash guys, stack the piles neatly for them, and I wave when they go by, even if we have nothing to pickup.
