may be a a dumb question, but what is with the Ziploc bag of hanging water?

Steeltowninwv, the Ziploc bags have 1 penny in them and it's to keep flies away. It really does work, too. You just have to change them out every 3 days or so.

ok im pretty new to hostas...are the flies bad for the hostas?..if im asking too many questions just tell me to shoo fly

No just annoying and right by my door, so many get in as soon as I open it. :-( So I have a couple around to keep them away because they are nasty. And they attract those wasp that like to kill them, too. So 2 birds, 1 stone, so to speak. I notice with them gone, more butterflies and hummingbirds come up.
