I don't grow it... but I've got the parent Blue Angel and another margined form, Earth Angel and, of course, Guardian Angel.

My best guess...

I'd grow it as you would any of the big blues. Though not as slow as some of the blues, they have been slow-medium growth rate for me... faster in brighter shade than deeper shade, as you would expect.

So I'd say - no direct sun, bright shade all day, deep soil, lots of water, and pick the spot carefully as you won't want to move it. For me, all the members of this family revert to a smaller, narrower adolescent leaf when moved or divided to severely.

I have had it for 3-4 years now. It takes a while to settle in, but this year, it has really come into its own.

I have it in mostly dappled shade, but it does get a couple hours of direct sun in the early morning and another hour or so around dinnertime.

Only got it this year but looking good so far.

It is in its third year for me ... full shade ... lots of water very acid soil. It grows slowly in these conditions.

Here's my DA. I bought it in 2011 as a three year old plant (I think) from Hallson's. I think it had a couple of eyes, can't really remember. I don't keep track of that stuff. It has grown well for me, not fast or slow. I love the colors, one of my favorite color combos. I'd say it's about a good two and a half foot wide or so now. It had been growing in clay loam soil amended with compost and horse manure, but this year I moved all of my hostas to Michigan (originally in Ohio) and are all growing in sandy loam soil, so we shall see how they do here. The hostas already here seem to be thriving, so I don't doubt mine will as well.
