not really.. they will mostly be similar looking to the shape and form of momma.. and the center color... and take just as long to mature as OBL.... plus throw in whatever crossed with her...

Ken beat me to it,but,yes they do set seeds. I have several little blue seedlings just underneath the mother plant,but they are just blue without variegation. I may move some out,ans see what happens. Phil

I've gotten the impression that in my temps, seed are not usually viable. Of course, it's early and it hasn't been that hot yet. Think that's true?

can you leave a stem.. and see if you get viable seed??

when they brown and pop open.. if you crush them .. you will feel that hard little black seed... if so... viable ...

if nothing but paper there.. no seed...

Generally speaking it is difficult for plants to set seed at temps above 85 degress F. There are exceptions, as there always are with Hosta and there are differences among cultivars. However, hybridizers wil bring plants into air conditioned spaces if they are trying to get seed to set during a heat wave. Remember that temps over 90 for several days in a row can occur virtually anywhere in the US during the time when plants are flowering.

Yes, OBL sets seed. The seedlings I've raised are generally solid green or solid gold, and have good substance. Most of the leaf shapes are ovate.
