Warning... dead rodent photo approaching....

It's been a couple of years since I had a vole in the yard, and now a few weeks ago, sure enough, a paradigm lost its life to the little buggar. Then, as voles do, one hosta then another bites the dust. Well, tonight the fourth one fell pray and in a small fit of rage, I began thrashing the leaves aside, found the tunnel, and lo and behold - out popped the vole!!!

Acting instinctively, I pounded him with my fist, and (sorry) his guts popped out. I don't like killing anything, but I have to admit I was flushed with victory!!

Here's his last victim (it's astounding how much damage they can do in short order):

And here's my victim:

When I had voles before, I tried every remedy claimed, with no success. I even tried tearing through their tunnels in violent fits of rage, but never came across one until tonight. BTW, I strongly believe that leaving the leaves down (see photos) contibuted to the vole's success, as they burrow just beneath them. I got lazy this winter, but never will again.
