though personally.. i would prefer golden tiara.. as more aggressive... if you want it to fill in faster ...

i had two plants.. left to their own devices for a few years.. which means i had a bazillion crowns.. lol .. and i planted them about 8 inches on center.... 3 to a hole.. and by the next summer.. had my border..

i can not conceptualize buying a lot of them.. but that depends on your budget.. and your need for instant gratification ...

Yeah, Ken, I'm also balking at buying multiples for a border. The U. Albormarginata is in place because I literally have thousands of them. They made a handy border at the time, but now I want something more permanent to finish a couple beds.

One bed already has several hostas with white or cream margins (Fortunei Aureomarginata, Antioch, Pilgrim, Wide Brim, Mountain Snow), The other bed has a background of Royal Standard and plantaginea and is getting a young magnolia and probably a bunch of Canadian Ginger this summer.

I was thinking of buying maybe 4 plants this year to divide, then dividing them again next spring when I replace the border. If I can't find any pic examples, I'll just divide mine and trial plant it in part of the current border.
