My husband was busy cutting and splitting firewood for next winter today and came to the house with this item. It was the worst piece of birch he said he ever had split and this was one of the ends he cut off and was going to throw out. I thought it quite interesting with swirls in the split off chunk

I'm not really into garden ornaments but I do have my turnip slicer which I have moved three times with, it was in our farmyard when I was growing up and has sentimental stuff attached to it. It is very heavy. I intend to make a better planter box that fits the hopper better and re-make the wooden stand.

I would have grabbed that piece of birch too, its beautiful.
