Patriot was my first impression as well...

Karin is somewhat similar to Patriot, but is probably more popular in Europe than Patriot. It was introduced by G. Heemskerk in The Netherlands, registered in 2005 and later patented. The foliage of Karin is quite thick. It emerges with a creamy margin that gradually gets whiter as the season progresses, eventually looking nearly identical to Patriot.

Another possibility is Minuteman, which is very similar to Patriot, but the leaf center is slightly darker than Patriot.

Your hosta could be any of these...they are all tetraploids, I believe (except some Patriot hostas are only partially tetraploid).

thanks for your input. @ don: I searched catalogues of two mail order nurserys (1 German, 1 Dutch), both had Patriot but not Karin.
So I am afraid that I have to add Patriot to my order form and find a spot for it when I re-edit my perennial border...

You should be able to confirm if it is Karin or not when it emerges nxt spring. If it leafs out with a creamy margin, then it's Karin (or possibly Whirling Dervish). If it emerges with a pure white margin, then it's Patriot or Minuteman.
