My hosta get at least and inch (of rain) or 2 inches watering per week. The exception is when I am out of town, then I cross my fingers. I either water 2 inches once per week (preferable) or 1 inch twice a week. Most people here do not use overhead watering. They have some kind of irrigation. I haven't figured that out yet for my small yard.

Hosta in containers are kept moist, watering everyday if necessary.

Mulch made of all plant parts like weed, flower stalks etc
