Close up of the flowers

That's a first........but interesting. Can't wait to hear the theories on this! They don't look like hosta flowers.

Have you separated the leaves and verified the flower scapes are coming from the hosta? Maybe it's a summer blooming bulb planted beneath? (Sorry, grasping at straws here)

They look like teeny tiny daylilies with the 3 plus 3 petal configuration. And the scape looks like a daylily scape with 3 way branching.

If you look on the images on the computer there are more pictures of tears of joy with yellow flowers so it must be the normal thing, how sweet

What you are seeing is a petalless flower. The yellow are the anthers, not petals.

Thar is a daylily underneath the hosta..... Start digging.

Judging by the petioles, you are seeing a form of fasciation which in this case has done weird things to the flowers. It's highly unlikely to re-occur next year.

I wonder if it will give me its usual purple flower as well. These scapes are definitely attached to the plant.There don't seem to be any other scapes in amongst the leaves. 100% sure it's not coming from another plant/bulb underneath. This is a very small raised planter about 3' long x18" deep, only 2 bricks high, and I filled it with old potting soil and compost. Do any other hostas do this?

According to the MyHostas Database it is supposed to have tiny purple flowers, so yours might just be doing something weird, or this weirdness might be a common thing with this plant. I don't have one to even know, just throwing out guesses here.
