Sum & Subtle.... Reverting?

Ok, we were talking about Titanic/Sum of All that reverts back to S&S. I tend to agree that it was rushed to market by Q&Z and not sufficiently tested.

I was just out moving some plants in the garden and noticed Sum & Subtle, also a TC sport, has lost its variegation as well.

If you grow Sum & Subtle, has it retained its variegation?

Hi Melissa,

Sum and Subtle takes most of the summer to even show its variegation. Mine just started to show it a couple weeks ago, though I do think there were a few in the batch that probably never showed it at all. They aren't kidding that it is subtle. Usually when people ask what they are I just tell them Sum and Substance unless I can really see the edge.

Good to know, Chris. BUt I would think given your local and mine having similar summers, thus far, that I'd see something by now. I know I've seen variegation in the past. I just wonder if this one is going to end up like so many of the S&S TC sports that revert.

rushed to market .... and not sufficiently tested.

==>> very amusing ... they arent in that business ..

they propagate plants... not test them ...

all they have to go on.. is they one they cut up.. to start the TC process ...

unfortunately.. SS is notorious.. for throwing TC sports ... so when they find one.. they just keep naming them.. and naming them.. and naming them ...

and its out job to grow them on.. and complain ...
