In wittling the list down from 20 to 10, I thought about what my criteria is besides just "I like it". I decided that how it stands up to weather,conditions, slugs had to count...How quickly it grows so I can maybe divide it and make more... (but too quickly -- rampant grower - counts against)

If I were going to the top-100 list for ideas, I would want to know how a hosta got on the list... how garden worthy, etc. etc.?

A survey such as this one should last a relatively long time...perhaps one month or so. It's been only 4 days so far, and the response is good. The longer the survey goes on, the more response we will get.

Wow, how time flies! This was a thread I started back in 2005, trying to remember how we came up with the top 100.
If my memory is correct I'm thinking we went by letter. Then the top 100 vote getters out of all hostas submitted made the cut. Tried to search for that whole thread but couldn't find it. Alexa I'm hoping you keep the original 2005 thread in FAQs and add new lists every couple of years or so, that way we could compare favorites from the past to what's hot today. Imagine what an interesting look back in hostas this would be as time goes by!

My ten and sorry they're in no special order because it was hard enough to whittle the list down to this! I just love, love, love hostas way too much!!! This is always so hard but here goes---
