I use what I refer to as plant crack. Epsomas Biotone which I usually mix into my planting hole and have even massaged it directly onto the roots. It lists it as a plant starter, I've conducted a few experiments which same plant, same media other than adding the Biotone to one and not the other. Biotone plants have always been larger, had better roots

I have had good luck with this sort of product when rooting cuttings and transplanting.

If you haven't already fertilized heavily this year I would say what the heck and try it!

Maybe make it more interesting and make an experiment of it.

Your post may have inspired me to divide a plant and have one control subject without the fert and one with the fert, both in pots, same soil, same exposure.

Lets see what happens!

The more I think on it, the more I wonder why I never thought about it before. Typically, I only use this on hosta for their soak before planting.
My thoughts now are it makes lotsa sense that when plants go dormant, roots do continue to grow, so sure! . but I feel there is a but in there somewhere on with hosta being induced into dormancy by environmental factors that they
could be pushed into leaf growth if done too soon after bloom?
