Funkies is NE of the Twin Cities. Has a cute garden art store next door. Great selection of plants for sale. No real display garden to speak of.

Venero is W of the Twin Cities. Beautiful display gardens. You need to make an appointment as they have limited parking. If you're buying, let 'em know what you want and they'll have them pre-dug and ready to take home. Or they'll dig on the spot.... but better to call in orders ahead.

Savory's is South of Minneapolis. Display gardens not nearly as nice as Venero's. Prices are higher, specimens are smaller. Wide selection of plants, but not all are at the retail site. Call ahead for orders from their list.

I'd choose Venero if you want to see a pretty display garden. Funkies if you're on a buy trip. Savory's if you've got free time and have done the other 2.

Thanks for the Minnesota reference. I am not really on a buying campaign just exploring, and dreaming, etc.

I had thought someone had mentioned a garden nursery just on the Wisconsin side but I just can't seem to remember where and haven't had any luck when I googled.
