I measured the leaves of one of mine a couple of weeks ago because I was pleased at how well it was doing. It was a transplant from a friend's garden last summer, travelled a long way in a hot car, got split in two once here, and looked a bit limp the rest of season. It has sprung back nicely. Leaves about 17" long by 9.5" wide.

Hostanista Your S&S is just beautiful despite the transfer and travel in a hot car. I thought for sum reason they never liked to be moved and that proves that theory wrong. Never hurt it one little bit!

I chose S&S as my very first hosta for planting in the driveway bed here in zone 9a South Alabama. I already have the pot sitting in the bed, waiting to choose the rest of the hosta to be companions to this very beautiful hosta.

I'm flip flopping about dump it in the ground NOW, or wait for about late November for dumping it out of the pot. My DH who is doing the bed prep, wants it all done ASAP. He is a bit impatient with my indecision.

I've had my S&S since May 2010. It's been in the ground in MA zone 5b for about 2 years, and then in the pot since August 2012. I'm sure it was set back some, but it is looking very nice anyway. I just want to turn it loose and let it grow, in its new spot between the palms and the aspidistra and the bamboo. I think it will hold its own.

'nista, that is a fine looking S&S. Maybe not so surprising, my foot is just about exactly a foot long. My measure was by comparing the leaf size to my foot and I came up with 2 'feet'. Maybe not exact...but close. I don't often have a tape measure with me; but I rarely go anywhere without my feet. (!!!)

Moc, I understand your zonal considerations but I just can't wait to get hosta into the ground. I'm betting your S&S can't wait to get in the ground as well.
