Listed as a "larger and much faster growing form of tokudama 'Aureonebulosa' ". I picked up as a root-bound stuffed potful in 2011. Uppotted and grew for a couple of years on the deck until this year. Leaves are finally bigger and wider this year, I think it took a couple of years (definitely sleep and creep years) to recover from being root-bound. Margins should improve/widen and expect leaves to pucker in time. Listed as sun tolerant and so far doing well with a sunny location - trimmed a few leaves that looked the worst. Myhostas lists size as SML....lol...whatever that means....medium seems to be consensus of other comments. Looks like it may take 5-6 years for this one to get established and really shine.

After viewing photos of GS and PG, here's BL looking similarly delicious to the other two...what is the vein count on this one? After viewing all three, I'm hard pressed to decide on one for this year. Next year is another matter! Lol

Jo, Bright Lights is a tokudama which I love, but expect it to be a slower grower.

Evidently this has been available for a while before its registration in 2010- Zilis mentions his first notes on BL go back to 1986.

From Registry:

Plant: 52 in. (132 cm) diameter, 19 in. (48 cm) high; mound like; slow.
Leaf: 9 in. (23 cm) long, 7 in. (18 cm) wide; 15 to 16 pairs of veins; golden yellow; medium blue-green margin; flat; glaucous bloom on top; glaucous bloom underneath; moderately wavy, heavily corrugated; broadly ovate; cordate base;
Scape: 20 in. (51 cm) long; green with some streaking.
Flower: tubular;
Seed: sets viable seed;
Clump History: a division of the original; 10 yrs old; Dubuque, IA;
Seasonal Variation: center changes from chartreuse to golden yellow during the season
[Hybrid of H. 'Tokudama Aureonebulosa']

Interesting that MyHostas notes mention it's a sport of Tokudama Aureonebulosa, yet registration says hybrid. And Zilis in Hostapedia mentions he's heard speculation that some collectors believe Bright Lights is a reversed sport of Tokudama Flavocircinalis.
