It doesn't look like anything to worry about - just a little stress from being in a pot and maybe a bit root bound. Hopefully you can plant it soon.

And Proven Winners is not a supplier but is just a marketing company. They don't actually grow any plants. Empress Wu is propagated by Walters Gardens, a wholesale company, and they sell those plants to growers and/or retailers to grow up more for retail sale.

No matter, really, your plant looks fine :)

if a leaf yellows.. from the tip back ... then it is a water deficiency ... and it usually starts on the oldest leaves.. i like to think of the plant sacrificing the old... to maintain the new ... is it an old leaf ...

i swear chris told me this.. when i visited a few weeks back.. and brought a potted plant which looked just like yours ....

and i swear i did a post on it ... since then ... which with this group... probably means its already on page 30 .... lol ..

pots are tricky.. i hope you have the pot in full shade ...

it might also be a hardening off issue... if you bought from a heavily shaded spot in the nursery ... and substantially changed such.. when you got home ... it would be transport shock ... not to be confused with transplant shock ...

I've seen similar yellowing in other potted perennials, but I am still relatively new to the hosta world, which means I worry more about them than about any of my other, more familiar, perennials LOL.

I have been watering the Empress regularly since we brought her home, but I'm sure she'll be much happier once she's in her newly dug (and very large) bed. :-)

Other say that it is August now and hosta appearance will suffer from now on until frost.
